RISE School has entered in partnership with English Learning Foundation (ELF) in 2016-17 Academic year to set up English Learning Lab to improve the reading and comprehension skills of children from Kindergarten. English Learning Foundation (ELF) is a social enterprise for the promotion of English language learning in India. The goal of this program is to get children to read English fluently. Starting with letters, and progressing in step-by-step graded levels, the child moves to reading simple sentences and stories. ELF provides the following support to RISE School
- ELF English Lab Full Content Package (ELF ‘Learn to Read’ Package ) which is inclusive of ELF’s Software/App and audio/video modules for different skills, Graded per-child workbook/worksheets which will be given to the child based on skill level, Phonics Simple Story Books – 4 sets per school, Teachers’ manual for activity/game ideas for different skills
- Once a term training for teachers
- Evaluation tools and skill charts for teachers to track progress
- Baseline, mid-line and end of year evaluation of children’s skills
- Class wise reports to the school once a term
RISE School was set up in a remote village where the requirement for a quality school was very high. A detailed survey was carried out in early 2000 and Samiyandipudhur village in Pollachi taluk, Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu was identified as an ideal location to start a school for rural children as there was a need for a school which provide equal educational opportunities as their urban peers at affordable cost.
